Had an uninvited guest Friday evening. We ended up killing it instead of capture and release (usual procedure) because my brother thought it was a Brown Recluse, and they can be deadly. It turns out it was a juvenile Wolf Spider. It was still big and dangerous looking. Turns out they are not aggressive and will not attack unless cornered so I'm sorry we killed it. I wish we had captured it and released it to the woods next door. He could jump 3-4 ft when he was being pursued.

If it had come inside my house I would have killed it AND put a "For Sale" sign in my front yard because I would have "known" that it had been pregnant and had it's babies in my house.

Not really. They grow as big if not bigger than tarantulas. This one was a juvenile (my brother took it to the park where he works and got an expert opinion) but it was still a good 4" in diameter. I just feel bad that we killed it when it wasn't necessary. Ugly thing but also quite strong, agile and fast. So I regret it was killed before it even had a chance to live really. I just wish it hadn't come inside!
